Joint military exercise: India & Russia would start anti-terrorist military exercise titled, "Indra-2012" from today onwards. It would be done at Siberian Republic Buryatiya. Both countries would involve 250 troops each along with Russia's fighter planes.
Ever since 2003, India & Russia had conducted five such "Indra" series military exercises, the last one being held in Oct 2010 at Delhi. The last year's military exercise was canceled.
India is the biggest importer of arms & weapons and a sizable portion comes from Russia. Between year 2007 to 2011, India had purchased 12.7 billion dollars of arms & weapons. As per Stockholm Peace Research Institute, aroud 80% of it had come from Russia.

Sukhoi 30 planes: The supersonic fighter planes Sukhoi 30 has some design problems but it's capacity is not lessened as such. The Air Chief Mr. Brown stated in Golden Jubilee function of Armed Forces medical college(AFMC) that he had himself flew the same plane & found no abnormalities. The design related problem shall be taken up with design agency. It has Fly-wi-wire problem. The technique used is akin to Power braking system in advanced cars, which take control at a later stage. But many Sukhoi 30 MKI have suffered accident as the system doesn't take control.
The biggest defence deal ever so happened in India is in regard to latest purchase of RAFAEL planes from France, which is expected to be finalised by the end of this fiscal year.
