Dear all,
Welcome.
The UN Secretary general, Ban-ki-moon had expressed condolence on Delhi Gangrape victim's demise. He told that the Govt. of India must implement reforms & bring culprits before the law.
He had condemned the incident & brutal killing of the girl who was cremated on Sunday early morning.
Many people had taken candle march & demanded stricter law for fighting against such violence. Ban ki moon had also apprised Indian govt. of strengthening of essential services for such victims. He told that UN's women and other agencies are always ready for technical assistance on such issues.
Irish law: Ireland had decided to pass a new law in regard to abortion in case of danger to the mother's life. After witnessing strong public protest following the death of NRI/PIO dentist, Savita Hallapanwar who died due to not being aborted. Ireland would legalise the abortion. As per sources, doctors refused to conduct abortion despite being told by Savita. Later, she died on October 28, 2012. Her foetus was running 17th week.
As per Irish Health Minister, the govt. was informed of the oppostion against abortion. The govt. is committed to protection of pregnant women. It is to note that abortion law is stricter in Ireland in entire Europe. Being a Roman Catholic country, the debate on legalising abortion is likely to happen. As per the Irish PM, whip would be issued for voting & there would be no independent voting.
Indian law: The Delhi's bus Gangrape accused would be taken for trial on charges of murder by Delhi Police. The trial is to be held at Delhi's Saket Court. The Delhi Police had already sent a report upon asking by the Home ministry. Upon death of the victim, PM had discussed about law & order in the meeting at his residence. Her case had shocked the conscience of the nation along with attention of various news media. The Earlier suggestion provided by the New Delhi govt. was to make Gangrape a non-bailable offence. The Delhi CM, Deikshit, had asked to Chief Justice of Delhi High Court to make five Fast track courts. Also, it had been suggested that such rape cases would be heard daily at Delhi. Amidst prevailing rumours of victim's getting treated at Delhi's hospital itself, it was also stated by Foreign minister that the victim was sent to Singapore upon consultation with the hospital doctors.
NBA: Whereas the conscience of the nation was shocked with grief outpouring upon victim's death on Saturday early morning at 2:15 am, the Central govt. had decided not to showcase such news via Newschannels telecast regarding victim's final rituals of her body. The News Broadcasing Association(NBA) had been issued eight(08) directions in this regard along with handling of the chaotic situation. The Metro railway would remain close to avoid any unwanted happenings along with the implementation of Act 144 thus prohibiting assembling of more than four persons. India gate had further been closed for proposed demonstration with protesters gathering at Jantar Mantar. Various areas saw demonstrations like Candle March, protest at Rashtrapati Bhawan etc. The victim's body was brought in Air India's 150 seater A1380 plane & was cremated at Dwarka Sector 22 crematorium amidst presence of Home Minister for State.
Police Atrocity: After exploding of public outcry, a Parliamentary committee has asked Delhi State Police Commissioner regarding atrocities on women. Also, problems of lesser vehicles & vacant official posts were earmarked by the committee. The chronology of events were narrated by the Commissioner. He stated that after the information, the PCR vans went into action. He is supposed to have told that with it, the accused were arrested quickly. Also in another incident, a notice had been issued to Delhi Police & Delhi Metro for preserving the CCTV footage of two metro stations of Dec.23 upon petition by two accused for killing of Police constable. Yet in another incident, for violent demonstration against the gangrape, Delhi Police & Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had been summoned. When the investigating officer told that as the investigation is being handed over to crime branch, DMRC could not be sent notice for the same, the Metropolitan magistrate issued notice and asked for reply by Dec.28.
Modi as PM: The Gujarat Assembly results had been declared with Modi emerging as PM contestant. While BJP is likely to project his image for winning Southern State elections like Karnataka, widespread rumours prevail over his campaigning in the Telangana region.
Although, surveys indicated Modi ahead of Congress but if GPP had been able to divide the vote bank, it may pose danger too. During 2009 assembly elections, BJP got 35% votes whereas Congress got 32% votes, which is merely 3% difference. During this election, record polling had happened therein Gujarat.
A myth prevails that excessive polling goes against ruling party, but Bihar & Punjab elections had been able to break it.
Since 1995, 42 States underwent polling, out of which 18 times it went in favour of ruling party whereas 26 times, it went against ruling parties.
An important factor is that youths involvement had made elections reach 70% polling. Around 40% of voters were of the age group 18-40 years, which indicate one sided results either in favour or in opposition. The analyst state that on development issue, inclination for Modi is far obvious as he had conducted a youth rally too.
While Modi brand had emerged as tough contest for Congress, it would be Modi's strategy on how he tackles situation like chaos & thrives upon it with his supposedly tougher stand on Bureaucracy for getting desired results.
