Yesterday, Google Search engine celebrated 540th birth anniversary of Copernicus. His principle stated that it was Sun around which all planets revolve. He was born in 1473 at Poland. His helio-centric principle proved that Sun was at the centre of the universe. Earlier, Church believed that it was earth around which planets move.

 

Also, Gujarat CM, Modi, would have to be declared free of charges for US Visa & wait until Court's decision on him arrives. The USA's Visa policy would not be subject to any changes.

 

Crime & Politics: The Central govt. is of the opinion that the democratically elected representatives, despite being tainted, have to be retained. It states that the retention of being member of the house bill is necessary uptil the final decision on the Court matter comes. It had filed an affidavit favouring Member of representatives act art. 8 (4). Presently, there are two Public Interest Litigations (PILs) pending in this regard. The affidavit by the law ministry states that act. 8 (4) aims to have continuity in democratically elected house. If during appeal, protection is not given, the working of the house is affected. It woudl render abolition of membership and lessen the members. Sometimes, political parties need majority. In such a situation, it is needed that single member may not be declared ineligible. Such facility/exemption is available only to seating members.
It is argued that if this law is not there, the member declared ineligible or tainted would not be present even after declared free of charges by a higher court of law. Likewise, if a MP is removed, it would curtail voters right to franchise. Thus, the law not only prevents adjourning of the house but also protects voters right.

 

Political Status: Now, West Bengal govt. had decided to limit the political status being granted to Maoist leaders like Mahato etc. It would bring a legislation in this regard in the State Assembly. The Home ministry had earlier informed that the said correctional services act 1992 should be amended. But it was held pending since past six months. Now, the State govt. also believes that Maoist had been banned by the Centre. Thus, Political status would not be granted under the act 24.
Earlier, the West Bengal govt. had held that if a person is arrested for public interest, who had come above for the self-less working, he might be given political prisoner status. Since 1992, around eighty three people had been given such status by the Leftist govt. It included North Bengal's movement related people but after the change of West Bengal govt., none had been given political status so far.
It is to note that after Mamata became CM, many political & Maoist cadres had sought for political prisoner status. Also, some had been declared by the Court to be such prisoners. But the problem had arisen after many such people started demanding the status in other States too. This resulted in the intervention of the Central govt. to write a letter to the State govt.  

 

AAP party head, Kejriwal, had retaliated the allegations made by Swami Agnivesh against him stating that hundreds of lives can be claimed for Anna Hazare. He tweeted that Agnivesh should state the basis of his allegations. And whether he has ample evidence to prove it? It is to note that Swami Agnivesh had revealed that during protest at Jantar Mantar, Arvind Kejriwal was of the opinion that if Anna died, it could give impetus to the movement. During April 2011 when the movement started, Agnivesh was against making Anna sit on agitation asking Kejriwal that why such an elderly person is being seated for hunger strike?
During that time, Kejriwal had stated like what Agnivesh had reported in a TV news channel. Similar allegations were made by Bhayyu Maharaj too. Even Kiran Bedi was feeling bad about it. Later, Agnivesh had talked to Bhushan whose warning led to closure of his hunger strike.
  
NRLM: Under National Rural Livelihood mission, govt. would run State wide programmes. The scope would include womens from places where human excreta is carried manually. Even, Self help groups (SHGs) would be promoted with target of seven crores. This would require around 22,000 crores INR.
Human trafficking is prevalent in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, & West Bengal whereas manual scavenging continues in UP, MP, Bihar, Rajasthan & Kerala. The rehabilitation of Dalit communities is not possible. Various welfare societies & civil societies stated the fact. NRLM would include women scavengers, which would be promoted through SHGs. This would be linked to the banks.

Today is Valentine's day, which had been opposed in traditional Indian society citing it's openness. Most noticable example is that of Asaram Bapu, whose camp was also put to fire citing undue comments on the issue of Gangrape. Many people, especially youths, had been killed in the name of honour killings most noticably in the Haryana State & adjoining areas. Khap Panchayats are often blamed for such killings although no direct involvement of them is found so far. But they had been issuing orders similar to Fatwa in Muslim community like mobile phone restrictions, & black veil (burqa) etc. Thus, there is a distinct difference between rural Bharat and urban India. In this age of development, instances such as Gangrape happen due to such differences. Verma Committee had already given it's recommendations on the subject matter so as to minimise such incidents with law & order being properly maintained. One must, therefore, understand that every right is associated with duties too.
VHP: Also, Contrary to earlier opposition like those hailed by Shiv Sainiks during earlier times, a helpline service is offered by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) under which a person can call 011-23616372 for help in this regard. The Regional Co-ordinator would also be available. It is being done to avoid sexual harrassment under the garb of Valentine's day. The Durga Vahini & Bajrang dal had appealed to the youths to come forward for protection of moral values. Delhi's Durga Vahini coordinator had appealed that it is important to curb such incidents against women folks. Also, one minute silence was kept in memory of those who died during the religious Kumbh along with health restoration for those wounded.
Press: The Press Council's investigation team had attacked Bihar govt. stating that independent & impartial journalism is not possible in the State. It is undeclared censorship. It's future is in danger. The Press media is being made as govt.'s news forum citing the advertisements. It is told to constitute an independent agency for giving advertisements. A team had gone to Bihar & handed over its report to the Press Council. As per the report, protests, demonstration, administration weaknesses are not showcased in it. Due to the govt. pressure, issues are being ignored. Such indirect control violates Art 19(1) of the constitution. Due to monopoly of the advt., media is forced to become govt. newschannel.

Media: After the Delhi's Gangrape, many cases of gangrape have come in the light brought by the National media but the news about the sixth accused i.e. Juvenile had been brought by the international agency. It had been claimed by the victim's friend that he was the one who asked them to sit in the bus scheduled for Dwarka, the destination place. Besides, he was involved in the matter(rape) too. His statement had also been recorded in the Fast track Court. The media had already been warned by the said Court to not take details of the case hearing as such.
Two other cases in regard to the rape of foreigners had been registered at Aurangabad by Korean women & at Delhi's Hauz Khas by Chinese women. While the first one claimed to be raped by a resort servant during her visit to Madhya Pradesh, the other women had been a resident of Hauz Khas & works for a Multinational Co. (MNC) at Gurgaon. The accused is a party organiser.

Modi Brand: The Gujarat CM, Modi, had, during annual lecture programme at the Lady Shriram College of Commerce at Delhi, stated about various national issues. He told that vote bank politics had been disastrous for Indian politics. He advocated for change in system with changed viewpoint.
His lecture was opposed by leftist groups. He cited Gujarat State development as model.
He stated that India could be a new brand, if adequate will power is there. He told about Speed-Scale-Skill requirements. Also, was Five-F told for cotton farming. Farm, Fiber, Fabric, Fashion & Foreign. While referring to his P2 & G2 model, I & B minister claimed that he had tried to mislead the youths.

Police reforms: The Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) head, SriKumar, had told that Police forces needs to be reformed as the laws governing Police had been more than 150 years old. It had been more of a govt. agent.
As per him, most of the States had been failure in implementation of Model Police laws. National Police Commission had prepared it more than thirty years ago. A mere one dozen States had implemented such Model Police Act.
He had also been advocate of LokPal & CBI laws so that they could be empowered. He had lamented upon Delhi Police Special Estt. Act 1946 under which govt. permission would be required for investigating into charges of corruption for Joint Secretary level & above Officials.

Donations: Delhi High Court had sought clarification regarding donations accepted by two major political parties viz. Congress & BJP. Both had been issued notices seeking clarification in regard to donations from Vedanta Inc. associate companies. SIT is demanded by the petitioner. Earlier, the Court had asked Home ministry, CEC etc. It had told that it would seek clarification from both parties later. Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) had filed the petition stating that both the parties had violated DCRA & Public representative act 1951.

It is being held from February 6 uptil 10th feb. It was inaugrated with Tigermoth helicopter followed by Tejas plane, Rafael, F-16 Falcon planes along with Sukhoi & Mirage 2000.
US-India Business Council (USIBC) had sent its biggest representative group, which includes Space & Defence companies officials. Around 400 companies are there in USIBC for increasing commercial relations. Boeing Vice President, Textron Systems Vice President are attending it. Koehler stated that US is ahead in supplying latest technologies for modernisation of defence forces. Other companies include ATK, BAE systems Inc., BEL helicopters, Dupont, FLIR, GE, Gulfstream Aerospace Corps, L-3 Aviation products, Lockheed Martin, Sicorsky, Telephonics Corp., & TOYCO etc. w

AWACS: The govt. had approved indigenisation of AWACS system, which would help in vigil inside enemy's territory. In principle approval is given for developing it. DRDO would decide on its direction with estimation of no. of such planes required. Already, three AWACS are with India, which are fitted in IL-76 planes. Their alternatives would also be suggested.
As per Defence minister, handing of Gwader harbour by Pakistan to China is a cause of concern. China would make sea port in that area. It is an important route for Middle East & Indian Ocean economies. Also, Investigation of damaged Helicopter at Chattisgarh by Naxalites is being investigated upon. IAF is providing training to para military personnel for rescue mission.
The govt. would build new airports for promoting regional airlines with lowered cost. Fifteen (15) new airports are being constructed. The passengers are increasing by about 15% during past decade.

NASA_Satellite

NASA: It had launched new humanless communication satellite, which would enable to be in touch with Space mission crew. Also, pictures obtained from Hubble telescope would be telecasted live.
The third generation Tracking & Data relay Satellite (TDRS) was launched from Florida's Cape carnival Air Force station.  NASA's Space communication & navigation personnel told that it would strengthen Satellite network, which would help unravel Space secrets. It would aid in all round development & longer term of the system. TDRS would help in data transfer of  man made Satellites orbiting round the Earth.  Next year, another satellite named TDRS-L would be launched.
