Original_app_mssg(1)Sriharikota: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to launch India's fourth navigation satellite—the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS)-1D today.
59.5 hours countdown for the launch began on Friday and is progressing smoothly. ISRO will place the 1,425 kg IRNSS-1D satellite in the orbit with its workhorse launching vehicle PSLV C-27. The launch is scheduled at 5.19 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
Earlier, ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar was quoted as saying that the launch of the satellite would help a person on the ground locate his geographical position in the Indian region.
"Once four satellites are up in space, using a receiver on ground you can independently locate yourself, you can determine your position in terms of latitude longitude and height. So this will give us independent geographic positioning system in the country," he had said.
The launch was originally scheduled for March 9, 2015, but was later deferred due to an anomaly found in the telemetry transmitter.
According to reports, IRNSS-1D is the fourth in series of seven satellites, planned by ISRO to put in place the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System. The first three satellites in the IRNSS series were launched from Sriharikota on July 1, 2013, April 4, 2014 and October 16, 2014 respectively.

The Aam Aadmi Party's bitter internal feud exploded at a meeting held near Delhi today where founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were dropped from a key panel in what could be a precursor to their possible exit for challenging chief Arvind Kejriwal.
1. At a resort on the outskirts of Delhi, around 250 AAP leaders voted Mr Yadav, Mr Bhushan and two others, out of the party's National Executive.
2. "It was murder of democracy," said Mr Yadav, alleging that "bouncers" dragged his supporters out of the meeting so that Mr Kejriwal's supporters could prevail. Mr Bhushan alleged "goondagardi (hooliganism)."
3. AAP rubbished their allegations and said 247 of 311 members who attended the meeting voted to remove the rebels for anti-party activities.
4. Mr Kejriwal, chief minister of Delhi, did not vote but left after making an emotional speech.
5. AAP's image has been dented, admitted party leader Ashutosh. The infighting has hit India's newest party just after it took power in Delhi following a record poll victory
6. Sources say the party's disciplinary committee is expected to take a call soon on the future of Mr Yadav and Mr Bhushan, who are only ordinary members now. Mr Yadav is also no longer chief spokesperson of the party and Mr Bhushan, not a part of its disciplinary committee anymore.
7. This morning, Mr Yadav sat on protest outside the meeting venue, alleging that "legitimate members" were not being allowed inside.
8. On Friday, a secretly-taped phone conversation was leaked, in which Mr Kejriwal is heard abusing Mr Bhushan and Mr Yadav and threatening to exit the party with his 67 lawmakers from Delhi. "Any other party would have thrown them out," Mr Kejriwal can be heard saying to a supporter.
9. Mr Yadav and Mr Bhushan claim they are being forced out of the party for demanding more transparency and internal democracy.
