The G-8 member countries had alerted Russia's Premiere, Vladimir Putin, to sign on Syrian Peace Plan else he would become aloof. Yesterday was last day of G-8 Conference at North Ireland, which was to have many agreements upon tax thefts but Syrian issue remained dominant. Differences amidst President Barrack Obama & Putin came to the fore. However, both leaders had expressed their commitments towards Geneva Peace summit. British Officials stated that G-8 could issue joint statement without Russia. It is to note that Russia supports Syrian President Bashar Al Asad.
Apart from the conference, Putin and Obama met for about an hour and agreed to bring the Syria related issues at the Geneva Peace summit. Putin had criticized providing of arms to rebellions and said that it is true that they don't agree but their wish is to end violence in Syria. Both countries had agreed that Syrian Civil war should be ended through peaceful talks only. All parties would be brought to the discussion table.
Obama had declared a grant in aid of around 30 crores dollars for Syrian refugees. He would visit Moscow on September 3&4 and also attend G-20 conference too.
Nelson Mandela: South Africa's leader's health is improving as per Doctors on ninth day. Addressing National youth day, the President, Jacob Zuma, had told that all should pray for him. He is in hospital as is known to all. His health is improving.
NRI/PIO & legal illuminary, Srikant Srinivasan, had taken oath today as DC Circuit Court Judge. He was nominated for US Court of Appeals for The District of Coloumbia Circuit. He had told about his family's contribution and Indian community for the success. He was nominated on June 11, 2012. US Senate had unanimously elected him as the Judge. It is to note that it is the second highest Court of USA.
Infosys: SEBI had asked Infosys about return of Mentor, Narayan Murthy, in the Board of Directors. Prior to his return, a three percent rise in share price had been watched by SEBI. After his being head, he had stated that Company would have to relook at it's chief business, Outsourcing. Speaking at 32nd AGM meeting, he stated that the company had diverted from Outsourcing due to which profits got reduced. It would have to centre its attention towards Applications development, maintenance, testing, BPO, and infrastructure management. It would have to make long term policy and also increase consulting business.
As per Ex-President, Murthy's return would be for giving a newer and strategic direction. His long experience had made him to lead again. The present world situation had created problems due to which results fell down.
COMPAT: The Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Builder Association of India (BAI) after a petition challenging deposition of 10% of fine imposed by COMPAT was filed by UltraTech cement. It is to note that CCI had fined 10 Cement Companies worth 6,300 crores INR for alleged price hike through lobbying. It had asked all companies to pay 10% of the fine imposed by May 17. On Monday, UltraTech's Counsel had asked that tribunal could not give order prior to the hearing of the appeal. There is no such provision. The Justice Bench had stated that one-side order won't be issued. It had sought reply by June 17. CCI was also present as cavaeator, which was opposed by UltraTech.
