Today is the 125th anniversary of Srinivas Ramanujan, Indian mathematician. He had contributed in analysis of numbers and derived 3,884 equations. He was the youngest member of member of Royal Society (FRS). He used to write equations without mentioning logical steps. He died in harness.

 

Banking Technology as deterrent: The Finance minister, P.Chidambaran, had hailed Indian Banking system for its capability to sustain any challenge posed before it. Addressing 102 establishment day of Central Bank of India, he told that Indian Banking system is capable of handling any challenging work as had been exhibited earlier too. From January 1, 2013, a new responsibility is given for transfer of subsidy directly to bank account. Four years back, when he had asked for cancelling of loan worth 70,000 crores INR, it was executed successfully. Likewise, Educational loan facility extended during seven years back was also handled successfully. A total of 3 lakh crores INR had been disbursed.
He stressed upon the technology so as to make banking facility reachable to all sections of the society.
All PSU banks strike was also tackled using technology for smooth working of banks. But it is presumably a wild card to rely upon.

 

Malaria: WHO had in its 2012 annual report stated that by 2015, malarial cases in India would reduce by 50-75%. Due to grant-in-aid & continual efforts by participating countries, Malaria eradication programme at global level had strengthened. However, with reduction in grant-in-aid, it may also prove fatal for present  efforts & success gained during past 10 years.
The South-East Asian countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka & Thailand had registered 75% decline between 2000 & 2011. As per report, India would register 50-75% decline by 2015. The plans for malaria eradication are progressing in India, Nepal & Thailand. In India, anti-malarial mosquito net is being provided. In 2011, more than 17 crore people were tested for malaria with around 10 crores Indian people.
WHO had appealed to all member countries to provide grant for saving lives of childrens.

 

Wikileaks: The Wikileaks founder, Julian Asanje, had stated that Wikileaks would issue/reveal around 1 million documents already kept with them, which would affect all countries. Presently, he had taken asylum in Ecuador with door for talks open too. As per his supporters, the next year would also be equally busy as usual.

As per Centre for research & Security studies, around 53 people had been killed amidst allegations of hate & insulting god since the year 1990. In Pakistan, it tantamounts to death sentence, which is not reviewed. Even during hearing, the counsel dare to open evidence for themselves being charged. Recently, Rimsa maseeh's case gained media attention as she was alleged to be carrying burnt Islamic book. But his neighbour came forward stating that it was kept by some Muslim cleric itself.

 

Around 139 reporters from 29 countries worldwide lost their lives while on duty, which is 30% more than previous year. Press Emblem Campaign (PEC) had provided the information. As per it, most of the reporters got killed while providing coverage of Syrian conflict. After the Iraq war, it is the biggest bloodshedding struggle of the 21st century. Around 36 reporters were killed during their work. As per PEC, since 2008, around 569 reporters got killed . During past five years, Phillipines, Mexico, Iraq, Honduras, Pakistan, syria, Somalia, Brazil, Russia & India itself accounted for 2/3 of such killings.
