Indian_Politics&Women_rights

Dear all,
Welcome.

Indo-Russia agreement: Russian Premier had, in his one day visit to India, signed around 10 agreements worth 22,000 crores INR(300 crore dollars). In a joint statement, both countries had agreed for cooperation on more than 40 issues. These included purchases of 42 new Sukhoi Su30 MKI, & 71 nos. of MI-17 V5 helicopters etc.
The venue was turned down from Hyderabad House to PM's residence itself due to continuing agitation in Delhi. As per Vladimir Putin, trade exchange would become double during next few years.
Also, Indian companies would try for stakes in Russia's Oil & gas sector. India had sought for it's oil companies opportunities in Russia's Siberia, Far East, & Arctic region. Also, Iran's nuclear programme & tension erupted was discussed. UN Security Council reforms & situation of Afghanistan after NATO-led coalition forces return by 2014 were also discussed.

Syria: The Russian foreign Minister had told that if Syria uses chemical weapons against rebels, it would be a political suicide for Bashar-al-asad govt. Asad had given assurance that it would not have any such plans. It is to note that violence during the past 21 months had resulted in loss of 44,000 lives. Russia still continues to be its major ally. It is keeping vigil on Syria. As per it, every now & then, rumours spread that Syria is going to use chemical weapons against rebels. Russia had also been alleged of using cluster bombs in Syria.

CVC: The Central Vigilance Commission is likely to adopt a stricter stand on corrupt staff. It had lashed at govt. machinery for not taking action on its recommendations. It has evidence of leaving such employees because of whom, lakhs of revenue loss occured to the govt.

Women rights: Whereas Delhi CM, Sheila Dikshit, had claimed Home ministry Delhi Police Spl. Estt. (DPSE) except VVIP security being given to Sushil Shinde, it is seen that Women's rights and their security issues are rarely brought up in the Parliament. Presently, there are 87 women members in both the Houses but the questions about women, in this regard, asked by them are very few in number. The Delhi's gang rape matter resulted in tears raising of Jaya Bachchan but she had asked only 05 questions in the LS/RS about womens. Likewise, Smriti Irani had asked 144 questions out of which only 04 were related to the womens. Dy. Chairman of RS, Najma, had mentioned only once but never asked any such question about womens. Also, Child & Women Health minister had also not asked anything related to women so far.
But there are exceptions like Congress member, Prabha Thakur, who did ask more than a dozen questions concerning womens problems. Also, NCW head, Girija Vyas, hadn't asked any such question so far.The Minister of State for Urban development, Deepa Dashmunshi, had asked about dozen a problems prior to holding the said post. The Punjab's Dy. CM's wife had asked about dozen a questions about womens.
The Govt. of Delhi, erstwhile Union territory's, CM had opposed the making of National War memorial near India Gate citing it as a tourist place. Under the proposal, a War memorial is to be made near India Gate canopy with names of martyrs inscribed on it. After Kargil war, it had been under discussion. But as per CM, it would pose problem to common visitors.

With regards,

ManojKumar, Bhilai
